La Palma (Wednesday 7 February)

We were all booked on a ship's excursion today so after breakfast we met on the quayside and found our 'Panoramic La Palma' coach.

We started with an hour's drive (a bit long without a stop) through banana plantations and tidy villages. Our first stop was at Tazacorte, a nice little fishing village with a black sand beach where we had a wander around.

We then went to see the new volcano from the 2019 eruption. The eruption lasted around 80 days but thankfully no lives were lost.

The media were camped out in this area when the eruption was taking place.

Our final stop was in El Paso where we sampled the local red wine and Canarian sauces.

A d finally were were back in the main town of Santa Cruz de la Palma where we had a chance to walk around and appreciate the many Canarian balconies.
